Rams look to light up Heavy Woollen derby

The two in-form rivals go head to head tomorrow and it should be a crackling atmosphere under the Tetley’s Stadium floodlights (kick off 7.30pm).

Dewsbury go into the game in confident mood following last week’s thrilling 31-30 Challenge Cup victory over Bradford Bulls but the Bulldogs are riding high in second place with four wins and a draw from their six matches.

Coach Glenn Morrison said: “We needed a big step up to beat Bradford and that’s what we did.

“They ground out a really exciting win, one that will go down in the history books for the club.

“We’ve got the confidence that if we play at our best we can compete with any team.

“We said before the game we have gone away to Featherstone and London and most of their points were from our mistakes.

“We have been putting the effort in, but game management has been letting us down.”

Dewsbury will be without prop Toby Adamson, who suffered a suspected torn bicep in the win over Bradford, and Jack Teanby, who was taken off with a head injury.

Scott Hale remains sidelines with a shoulder injury but half-back Andy Kain is included in the 19-man squad having recovered from an ankle injury.

Batley centre Chris Ulugia, who scored the winning try when the Bulldogs won at Tetley’s Stadium last September, is out having undergone surgery on a broken hand he sustained in his side’s 37-36 cup win over Whitehaven.
