NRL prop once coached by Leeds Rhinos boss linked with Super League move
A prop-forward once coached by Leeds Rhinos boss Brad Arthur has been linked with a move to England.
Tepai Moeroa will be out of contract with Melbourne Storm after Sunday’s NRL Grand Final against Penrith Panthers and is understood to be considering a switch to Betfred Super League. The 29-year-old played 10 times for Storm this year, when they topped the NRL table and is a reserve for the title-decider.
Moeroa, who featured for Storm feeder club North Sydney Bears in last weekend’s New South Wales Cup Grand Final loss to Newtown Jets, made more than 100 appearances for Parramatta Eels under Arthur. The Cook Islands-born forward switched to rugby union with NSW Waratahs in 2020 and moved to Storm the following year.

He told TBR Rugby League: “I think the UK Super League provides a new challenge. I have ex-teammates there who really enjoy the football and the opportunity to live in the UK. I am hopeful of being selected for the Cook Islands again for the upcoming Pacific Bowl and if the opportunity presents I’d love to land at a Super League club for season 2025.
“I have a lot of desire still left in me and hunger for the game. A few small injuries this year kept me sidelined for longer than we all thought, but I’m fresh and fit and looking forward to being part of the Storm finals and finish the year with a Grand Final win and then some test match football.”
Rhinos are in the market for at least one front-rower to bolster their pack for next season. Seven members of their 2024 squad have left the club, with only one signing, Hull KR winger Ryan Hall, being announced so far.
