National Conference: Hunslet Warriors now showing their true potential

HUNSLET WARRIORS are up to second in National Conference Division One and beginning to show signs of title-winning form.

The 38-0 home demolition of Ince Rose Bridge was their fifth win in seven games, with one draw and they have scored 96 points without reply in their last two matches.

Prop Darrell Forster was among Warriors’ try scorers against Rose Bridge and was named man of the match.

Nathan Sefton bagged a brace and others to cross were Lee West, Gary McClelland, Caldon Bravo and Karl Featherstone.

Richard Wheelhouse kicked three goals and Daryl Gaunt landed two.

Oulton Warriors remain top, despite a 32-10 setback at Shaw Cross Sharks. Dom Flanagan scored a try and goal and Matty Bullough also crossed.

Third-placed Milford Marlins were also beaten, 20-10 at Thatto Heath Crusaders.

And East Leeds went down 28-10 at Myton Warriors, despite tries by Ryan Gaunt and Jordan Normington and a goal from Declan Tomlinson.

Hunslet Club Parkside already look to be on course for a second successive promotion.

The Division Two leaders made it seven wins from as many games with a 26-24 success at Leigh East.

Thornhill Trojans, who are third, slipped up 38-26 at home to Askam.

Liam Green scored two tries, Mindaugas Bendikas, Gareth Love and Jake Wilson got the others and Andrew Bates chipped in with three goals

Stanningley lost 28-26 at home to Dewsbury Celtic.

Cheques for £7,000 each were presented to Sue Ryder Wheatfields and CICRA. The money was raised on Easter Saturday when Stanningley faced Milford in a game which featured retired legends Jamie Peacock and Adrian Morley.
