More tests for injured Leeds Rhinos star Jack Walker

Full-back Jack Walker is expected to miss Leeds Rhinos' home clash with Toronto Wolfpack on Thursday, but initial indications are he will be sidelined for the medium rather than long-term.

Walker has had a scan on the ankle injury he suffered in last Friday’s 36-0 win over Warrington Wolves, but the full extent of the damage is not yet known.

Rhinos coach Richard Agar, who will name his initial 21-man squad for the Toronto game at noon on Tuesday, said: “The first prognosis is it will be weeks rather than months, but we need further tests to confirm this.”

Walker has been in outstanding form for Rhinos this year and opened their scoring against Warrington before being hurt midway through the first half.

Meanwhile, Toronto forward Bodene Thompson has been cleared to face Rhinos this week, despite being sent-off in last Saturday’s 32-0 defeat by St Helens.

Thompson was dismissed for a shoulder charge on Matty Lees 67 minutes into the game at Halliwell Jones Stadium, but the Rugby Football League’s match review panel deemed it a minor grade A offence and the former Warrington man avoided a suspension.
