The 33-year-old Australian joined Tigers from Canterbury Bulldogs for the 2012 campaign and has made more than 200 appearances - a club record for an overseas player.

“I’m really happy to get it sorted and be sticking around for another year,” Millington said.

“I’ve almost spent a third of my life here and I’ve had some of the best moments of my life here - the birth of my three kids, the league leaders’ shield, the Grand Final, they are all things I know I’m going to remember forever.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here and it’s something I won’t forget for sure.”

Millington added: “I’m not here to waste time or anything, if that was the case I would move home and find work and start the rest of my life, but I still honestly believe we’ve got something pretty special here.

“I firmly believe we can still do things and I’m desperate to make it here in what could be my final year. It’s something I’ve had as a goal for a long time and I’ll be doing everything I can to achieve it.”

Tigers coach Daryl Powell paid tribute to Millington, saying: “Overseas players come over to the UK and spend time at clubs, but for a player to come and spend 10 seasons with a club is pretty special and almost unheard of.

“He came over and he has grown, certainly in my time at the club and he has been a special player for Castleford Tigers in every way.

“I’m delighted he is staying here with us. I think he is revitalized and the way I see him at the moment - and what we’ve seen at the start of this season and since the lockdown - is that he is in fantastic shape and playing some of the best rugby league of his career.

“His ability as a front-rower is second to none, we’ve played him at half- back, he can do whatever you want. He has been an awesome player for the club and I’m looking forward to continuing working with him.”

Tigers director of rugby Jon Wells added: “I am delighted Millo goes round again with us. He is a leader on and off the field and a humble man who sets a great example for us all.

“Every now and again a club and a player find one another and it just works. Adrian Vowles was one, Luke Dorn another. Millo, for me, sits in that bracket.”
