Cook joined Tigers year ago from London Broncos. It is his second spell at the club after a stint on loan from Bradford Bulls in 2008.

“I’m over the moon to be staying at Castleford for the next two years,” said Cook, who made 17 appearances this year.

“Since I joined the club last season I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being part of this team. I feel very settled at the club and I think that comes down to the club culture and how tight-knit the boys are,”

Cook added: “Last season we narrowly missed out on making the top-four in order to push for silverware.

“I’m really looking forward to the next two seasons at Cas and I truly believe we can go on and win trophies.

“I’d like to thank Powelly [coach Daryl Powell], the coaching staff, [chief executive] Steve Gill and the club for giving me the opportunity to extend my stay with the Tigers.”

Powell said: “Cooky has been a quality signing for us with his energy and athleticism being two great strengths.

“I’m confident he has a whole heap of further development in his game and I am really pleased to extend his deal and secure his services for the next two years.”

The 29-year old started his career with Bulls in 2003 before moving to Hull KR seven years later.

After two seasons in Hull, Cook joined Broncos where he spent three years, making 64 appearances and captaining the club in 2014.

Cook is a former England international, having played against France and Tonga in 2006.
