Greenwood, brought in on Tuesday from Wigan Warriors on a two-month deal, has been named in Rhinos’ initial 21-man squad for the visit of Warrington Wolves in Betfred Super League round five.

If he plays it will be the England Knights forward’s 100th Super League appearance, following 68 for St Helens and 31 with Wigan.

He is likely to captain the team as Stevie Ward misses a third match due to concussion suffered in the round one loss to Hull at the start of this month.

Luke Gale, who has skippered the side for the past two games and taken goal kicking duties, needs eight points to reach 1,500 in Super League.

He has scored 26 for Rhinos, on top of 947 as a Castleford Tigers player, 272 with Bradford Bulls and 247 during his time at Harlequins.

Callum McLelland and Tom Holroyd are also in contention, along with the 17 who won at Salford Red Devils six days ago.

Other players on Rhinos’ casualty list are Kruise Leeming, Dom Crosby and Liam Sutcliffe, all with knee injuries.

Warrington are without Matty Ashton, who suffered a hamstring injury in last week’s win over Toronto Wolfpack, but Chris Hill returns from a three-game ban picked up following his red card in the round one defeat at Wigan.

Sitaleki Akauola, Keanan Brand, Jake Mamo and Ellis Robson are other players vying for a place in the 17.
