Rob Burrow's wife Lindsey 'incredibly proud' of Kevin Sinfield's latest fundraising effort

Sinfield ran 101 miles from Leicester to Leeds in aid of the MND Association and the appeal to build The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease.

Lindsey and her daughter Macy joined Sinfield on the last mile of his challenge as he finished the feat on the Headingley pitch and was greeted by his friend and former Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow.

The donations rose significantly on Tuesday morning, jumping from under £500,000 late on Monday night to over £1m before 12pm on Tuesday.

“Rob always says that everyone needs a friend like Kev," she said.

“It’s just crazy when you think what he’s done, I’m incredibly proud of him.”

She said the money will help provide better care and facilities for MND sufferers and their families.

Last year, Sinfield ran seven marathons in seven days to raise over £2.7m for the same cause. He is on course to have risen over £4m for MND charities in less than 12 months.

Lindsey Burrow also expressed her gratitude for the support she and her family have had since her husband was diagnosed with MND in December 2019.

Of how the money can help those suffering with MND, she added: “It means they’ve got a nice place to go. It’s got wheelchair access, it’s fit for purpose.

“We said this has never been about Rob, it’s about raising awareness for the builder or the postman who doesn’t have a voice.

“Families have said to me they’ve got family members who have MND and they know about it, they don’t have to explain it to people.

“Rob’s more well known for the MND now, sometimes you forget he was Rob the rugby player.

“We’re so grateful for the support we’ve had, it’s really humbling. It gives us something to smile about.”
