Leeds rugby league teams shine on big stage at Wakefield Trinity: National League finals day picture special

Rugby league in Leeds enjoyed a double success when the community game staged its showpiece finals day at the home of Super League champions Wakefield Trinity.

Three of the four sides in the National League play-off deciders were from the city, with Hunslet ARLFC winning the Premier Division title after East Leeds came out on top in a derby showdown against Oulton Raiders.

Easts battled from fourth place in the Division One table to secure a third successive promotion thanks to tries in the play-off final by Luke Littlewood, Dave Gibbons and Isaac Coleman. Littlewood also booted five goals and a one-pointer in a man of the match performance. Try scorers for Raiders, who had an encouraging season after only retaining their place in the division when another club withdrew, were Joe Horan and Ben Brady. Archie Craggs added a goal.

Hunslet ARLFC turned in an outstanding display of wet weather rugby to be crowned Premier Division champions with a 14-0 defeat of league leaders West Hull. Caelum Jordan, Harry Shackleton - who also added a goal - and man of the match Jack McShane were the try scorers, all in the first half.

Stephen Gaunt of Touchlinepics braved the storm to snap the best of the action from both finals. Here are 24 of his best pictures.
