Leeds rugby league club Hunslet RLFC sign Hull FC forward as stalwart departs to Championship rivals

Hunslet RLFC have signed a young prop from Hull FC.

Jordon Baker has penned a 12-month contract after playing at academy and reserves level for the Super League outfit. Baker will join another former Hull man, outside-back Ben Johnson, in the Championship side’s squad for 2027.

Baker, who is a product of the West Hull community club, said: “Signing with Hunslet is a massive opportunity for me. I’m ready to step out of reserve-grade rugby and prove what I can do at the competitive senior level. Hunslet is a club with a massive history and passionate fans and I can’t wait to run out at South Leeds Stadium and give everything for the shirt.”

Hunslet coach Kyle Trout reckons Baker is “a young man with a huge ceiling”. He enthused: “He has come through a fantastic system at Hull FC, training alongside full-time professionals and he is desperate to test himself in the senior game.

“He plays with real intent, sets a strong physical platform and is a brilliant fit for the culture we are building here at South Leeds Stadium.”

Meanwhile, hooker Cam Berry has joined Batley Bulldogs after three seasons with Hunslet. The former Bradford Bulls, Rochdale Hornets and North Wales man, who was in his second spell with the Parksiders, made 22 appearances in 2026.
