Leeds Rhinos v Wigan Warriors: latest Super League team news, injury update and 21-man squads

Leeds Rhinos will be close to full-strength for tonight’s (Saturday) blockbuster showdown with Wigan Warriors at AMT Headingley.

Forward Keenan Palasia remains on the casualty list with a damaged foot, but only he and hooker Danny Levi are ruled out from Rhinos’ first-choice 17. Palasia is expected back for Leeds’ final game of the regular season at home to Hull FC in six days’ time.

Levi is unlikely to play again this year after failing to get through his comeback from a serious neck injury when Rhinos won at St Helens last week. Second-rower Kallum Watkins and full-back Lachie Miller both picked up knocks during that game, but are expected to continue in the side for tonight’s Sky-televised encounter, refereed by Liam Moore.

“At this time of the year you have got a lot of walking wounded, but I think the occasion eliminates all that,” coach Brad Arthur said. “All of a sudden those bumps and bruises aren’t there any more. They are just pretend bumps and bruises for a week. The boys are all good and they’ve trained really well. They are fine and ready to go.”

Winger Maika Sivo (broken arm) and second-row James McDonnell (pectoral muscle) have both been named in Rhinos’ 21-man squad after long-term injury. Arthur hasn’t confirmed if either will play, but said they will feature against Hull.

Wigan are missing only number 12 Liam Farrell and 16 Abbas Miski from their top 17 for the sold-out fixture. England forward Junior Nsemba is back in contention following a hamstring injury.

Leeds Rhinos: from Miller, Sivo, Newman, Handley, Hall, Croft, Connor, Oledzki, O’Connor, Holroyd, Watkins, McDonnell, Hankinson, Jenkins, C Smith, Cassell, Nicholson-Watton, F McCormack, Lloyd, Lodge, Bird.

Wigan Warriors: from Field, Eckersley, Keighran, Wardle, Marshall, French, H Smith, Havard, O’Neill, Thompson, Nsemba, Ellis, Walters, Mago, Partington, Eseh, McDermott, Kerr, O’Loughlin, Daniel, O’Connor.

Referee: Liam Moore (Wigan). Kick-off: Today (Saturday), 8pm.
