Hull KR are preparing to face a “very good team across the board” when they visit Leeds Rhinos on Friday, their on-loan second-rower Harvey Livett says.

Rovers were among the pre-season relegation favourites, but have started with a thumping 30-12 win over Wakefield Trinity and spirited 25-16 loss to Hull, who crushed Rhinos 30-4 in their previous game.

Another victory would lift them four points clear of Rhinos and Livett said they can go into the game in confident mood, but admitted Leeds are dangerous opponents.

“You look at the half-backs, you’ve got Robert Lui and Luke Gale and they take control, really,” he noted.

“They’ve got Konrad Hurrell who’s doing a lot for them and bringing some good metres.

“Across the board they’ve got a very good team, but hopefully we’ll be prepared for them.

“We have touched on them this week and done a bit of work on them defensively and on offense as well.

“It is another game in the bank for us and hopefully we can get another win.

“We want to start strong and another win would help massively.”

On a personal note, Livett has struggled to recapture the form he showed for Warrington two years ago when his highlights included a blistering three-try performance in a victory at Leeds.

Under Rovers boss Tony Smith, though, he feels he is starting to get back to what he is good at.

He was among the try scorers in last week’s derby and said the start of the season “has gone well for me personally”.

He reflected: “I’ve got the starting shirt and I’m enjoying my rugby again under Tony.

“I’d like to think I am getting a little bit of form as well so hopefully I can take it into the next few games.

“Hopefully I can keep providing the assists for Crooksy [Ben Crooks} and Kane [Linnett] and I can keep getting a few tries under my belt.”
