Leeds Rhinos v Hull KR - latest team news

It will be business as planned for Leeds Rhinos at home to Hull KR tonight as coach Richard Agar selects from the 21 players named for last Sunday’s postponed game at Huddersfield Giants.

Rhinos will be without Stevie Ward who suffered concussion in the Betfred Super League round one defeat by Hull 12 days ago, so Rhyse Martin captains the team.

Ward’s place in the 17 for this evening will be taken by Ava Seumanufagai and Alex Mellor is set to step up from the bench for his first Leeds start.

Mellor made his Rhinos debut against Hull, but played most of the game out of position at centre after an injury to Konrad Hurrell.

Hurrell failed a concussion assessment during that game, but has passed a subsequent head test and is set to play tonight.

Rhys Evans, Callum McLelland, Luke Briscoe and Tom Holroyd all retain their place in the 21, despite not being selected to play against Hull or for last week’s side.

Senior players on the casualty list alongside Ward are Tom Briscoe, Kruise Leeming and Dom Crosby, all with knee injuries, plus Alex Sutcliffe who broke a hand on last month’s warm weather training camp in Spain.

Former Rhinos hooker Matt Parcell is in contention to make his first appearance of the season for Hull KR.

Will Dagger will start at full-back in place of Adam Quinlan who suffered an ankle injury last week.

Mitch Garbutt, who like Parcell was twice a Grand Final winner with Leeds, remains on Rovers’ injury list.

Joe Keyes could come in for his Hull KR debut and Jordan Abdull and Matty Gee are also included in boss Tony Smith’s initial squad.
