Leeds Rhinos trio to launch new away strip at World Cup final screening

FIRST-TEAM trio Carl Ablett, Ashton Golding and Jordan Lilley will help launch Leeds Rhinos' new away kit at an event that sees the club open their doors for fans to watch the World Cup final, too.

They are hosting a free event on Saturday when supporters are invited to the Carnegie Cafe Bar at Emerald Headingley Stadium to see England face Australia on the big screen.

Ex-England star Ablett and Rhinos colleagues Golding and Lilley will be in attendance to meet fans on what it is hoped will be an historic day for the country’s sport. Leeds players Ryan Hall and Kallum Watkins are, of course, in action for England on the wing and in the centre respectively, as the national side faces their first World Cup final since 1995.

The England national team has never won the trophy and the last time Great Britain did win the tournament was back in 1972.

Meanwhile, the Super League trophy will be on view for Leeds fans who may wish to have their photographs taken with it.

That is on display in the Cafe Bar from 8am until 9am.

Elsewhere, Ireland full-back Scott Grix has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Wakefield Trinity until the end of 2019.

Grix, 33, rejoined Trinity from Huddersfield ahead of the 2017 season and scored eight tries in 29 appearances. Utility forward Mikey Sio, 24, has left the club by mutual consent.
