Leeds hit back from 10-0 down to lead at half-time away to St Helens, but were pipped 27-22 after failing to score in the second half.
Kallum Watkins, Konrad Hurrell, Ash Handley and Mikolaj Oledzki scored Leeds’ tries and Tui Lolohea landed three goals.

Hide AdRhinos began what was to be their first title-winning campaign in 32 years with a 58-14 demolition of London Broncos at Headingley in Tony Smith’s debut as coach.
Francis Cummins was left out, ending a run of 179 consecutive games, but Marcus Bai, scored a hat-trick in his first appearance, Chev Walker, Keith Senior and Rob Burrow all bagged a brace, Mark Calderwood also crossed and Kevin Sinfield added nine goals.

Kevin Dick and Dave Heron shared the Loiners’ four tries in a 16-10 derby win at Featherstone Rovers.
Dick and Jeff Townend – a £5,000 mid-season signing from Wigan – kicked a goal each. The crowd at Post Office Road was just 3,196.

Hide AdLeeds won at Knowsley Road for the first time since 1947, beating St Helens 14-6 in a game when Lewis Jones booted his 1,244th and final goal from the club. Drew Broatch crossed twice and Brian Shaw and Ron Cowan were the other try scorers.

WH Davies touched down twice in a 13-5 win at Halifax, en-route to becoming Leeds’ top try scorer of the season, with 21.
Billy Ward also touched down and CE Haycox kicked two goals.
