Leeds Rhinos Nostalgia: On this day in history
Peter Smith delves through the YEP archives to find out what happened on this day in the history of Leeds Rhinos.
2007

Carl Ablett scored Rhinos’ only try, with Kevin Sinfield adding a goal, in a 17-6 defeat by Hull FC, in front of a 17,424 crowd at Headingley.
2003

Leeds were beaten 22-21 by Bradford Bulls in front of a 21,102 crowd at Odsal.
Paul Deacon’s last-gasp drop goal broke Rhinos’ hearts after a try, four goals and drop goal from Kevin Sinfield, plus touchdowns by Wayne McDonald and Willie Poching, seemed to have earned Leeds a draw.
2001
A broken jaw suffered by hooker Robbie Mears – in a tackle which earned Sonny Nickle a nine-game ban – marred Rhinos’ 23-18 win over St Helens at Knowsley Road.

Rob Burrow bagged a brace, Mark Calderwood and Francis Cummins also touched down and Sinfield kicked three goals and a drop goal.
1969
Barry Seabourne booted four drop goals – then worth two points – as Leeds hit back from five points down at half-time to beat Hull 30-9 in Yorkshire Cup first round tie at the Boulevard.
Bev Risman scored a try and five goals and John Langley, Mick Shoebottom and Alan Smith also crossed.
