Current England coach Shaun Wane was among Leeds’ try scorers in a 27-10 win at Salford.

Phil Ford bagged a brace, Bobbie Goulding scored a try and a drop goal and Gary Divorty also crossed and Simon Irving added three goals.

Defences were on top when Leeds visited Halifax 40 years ago today and won 3-2.

Terry Naylor scored the game’s only try in front of a 5,424 crowd at Thrum Hall.

1969

A week after beating Featherstone Rovers 29-11 at Post Office Road, Leeds completed the double with a 13-3 home success.

Alan Smith, Albert Eyre and Ray Batten were try scorers – for the second successive game – and Bev Risman kicked two goals.

1930

Hull KR were routed 36-0 at Headingley in the third of a nine-match winning run.

GE Andrews and Dai Jenkins both scored two tries and Evan Williams, Stan Smith, Jeff Moores and Bill Davis got the others.

Dan Pascoe kicked six goals.

Born today in 1976:

Twins Anthony and David Gibbons were born.

They played for Leeds in the 1990s and are now assistant-coaches with Rhinos’ women’s side.
