Our man Peter Smith delves through the YEP archives to find out what happened on this day in the history of Leeds Rhinos.

2014/2015:

Six years ago Rhinos romped to a 60-6 win at Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in the Challenge Cup fourth round.

Exactly a year later they faced the same opposition at home in Super League and were 48-22 victors. Rob Burrow scored two tries and Kevin Sinfield kicked eight goals in both games.

1975:

Alan Smith, John Holmes and Keith Hepworth all crossed twice in a 45-2 thrashing of Halifax at Headingley.

Leeds’ other try scorers were Syd Hynes, John Atkinson, Phil Cookson, Rob Dickinson and David Marshall, who also kicked six goals.

1968:

Leeds booked a place at Wembley by beating Wigan 25-4 in a Challenge Cup semi-final at Station Road, Swinton.

John Atkinson scored a classic try, Syd Hynes, Barry Seabourne, Bill Ramsey and Bernard Watson also crossed and Bev Risman kicked five goals.

1958:

Leeds had a rare day off!

They had beaten visitors Hunslet 13-8 on April 4 and lost 13-7 at home to Liverpool City the following day.

They lost again, 15-7 at Salford, on April 7 and, in total, played six games in 19 days to finish the season.
