Rhinos say the predominantly white jersey will “complement the club’s home and away shirts for the new campaign, but most importantly raise funds and awareness for the MNDA”.

A decision on when it will be worn will be made after Betfred Super League fixtures have been announced, which is expected to be towards the end of this month.

Replica shirts cost £49.99 for adults and £10 from every full-price sale will go to the charity which is dedicated to supporting sufferers and finding a cure for the terminal illness.

Rhinos director of rugby Kevin Sinfield hailed the shirt’s design and welcomed the club’s latest fund-raising initiative.

Sinfield, who raised more than £2.6m by running seven marathons in seven days last December, said: “I think the shirt looks great and there are so many lovely touches that remind us all about Rob and the battle everyone in the MND community is going through every day.

“I know the players will wear the shirt with pride just as Rob did throughout his incredible career.”

He added: “The best part is the fantastic money and awareness this will raise for the MND Association and on behalf of everyone involved.

"I would like to say a big thank you to our partners at OXEN for their generosity and especially to all those who order their replica shirt.”
