Konrad Hurrell’s excited to be linking up with ‘class’ operator Luke Gale at Leeds Rhinos

LEEDS RHINOS’ star centre Konrad Hurrell can’t wait to play outside former Man of Steel Luke Gale this year.

Hurrell was Rhinos’ second-highest try scorer last year with 14, eight behind his winger Ash Handley.

In a disappointing season for the team, the duo formed one of Betfred Super League’s most effective attacking partnerships – and they could pose even more of a threat this term on the back of passes from half-back signing Gale.

“I have never played with him before, but I played against him in the World Cup and he has got everything,” Hurrell said of Rhinos’ new number seven.

“He is a talented kid and he is willing to win all the time. He hates losing and it’s good playing with people like that.

“He is class, he talks a lot and sometimes we need that so I am looking forward to partnering up with Galey and Ash again.”

Hurrell has quickly become one of the most exciting players to watch in the British game and, with one Super League season under his belt, the Tongan Test ace knows what he is in for when Leeds kick off at home to Hull in 10 days’ time.

He said: “I feel like it is going to be a bit tougher this year because every team knows my strength and knows my weakness.

“They will be more comfortable handling me, but I just need to work hard and bring my ‘A’ game and I am looking forward to it.”
