“I am expecting Dave Fifita to hopefully be involved this week, as with Tinirau Arona as well,” Chester - whose side won at Salford Red Devils on Sunday - said. “That will give me some food for thought.”

Arona suffered a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury last May and Fifita has not played since undergoing surgery on a foot last summer.

He still has some pain from a damaged foot, but is now back in training and expected to return in the next two weeks.

“It’s not ideal because we are training on a 4g at the minute,” Chester said.

“There’s not a great deal of give on those 4g pitches, but his knee is fine.

“It’s just the foot he is a little bit concerned about, but he has done lots of change of direction so if not this week, he’ll potentially be back the following week in the Challenge Cup.”

If Brough is unavailable, Max Jowitt is likely to continue in the halves alongside Jacob Miller after the duo impressed at Salford.

Chester said: “They’ve had four training sessions together. We know we're not the finished article in that department, but that combination will get better the more they play together.”
