he match is part of the transfer fee agreed when George Flanagan left Hunslet to join Bulls in 2018. The Parksiders will be hoping for a bumper crowd to boost finances midway through pre-season. A Hunslet club statement said: “We’re delighted to have this great home fixture to launch our 2020 season preparations and, in doing so, to finalise the transaction of nearly two years ago.
“Our supporters are doing a great job of getting behind the club and taking up memberships to give us the best chance of a strong and sustainable model.
“For a self-sustainable supporter-owned club, fixtures of this nature – and the support of larger clubs with big and passionate fan-bases – are incredibly important. The intent and understanding shown by [Bulls officials] Eric Perez, Mark Sawyer, Nigel Wood and [coach] John Kear in scheduling this fixture is genuinely appreciated.
“They have shown a sincere effort to honour a long-standing agreement and make room for this match in a busy pre-season for their club.”
Hunslet’s home Betfred League One clash with Barrow Raiders, scheduled for Sunday, May 31, has been put back to Saturday, June 6 (3pm).
