Hull FC announce signing and departure ahead of York Knights clash
Leeds Rhinos back-rower Ethan O'Neill has secured a release from his contract to join Hull FC on a permanent deal.
The Australian makes the switch on a two-and-a-half-year contract after impressing during a loan spell with the Black and Whites.
O'Neill scored two tries in five appearances before returning to Leeds for treatment on a hamstring injury. He is back available for Hull's away clash with York Knights tonight.
His early exit from Headingley follows the news that fellow off-season signing Jeremiah Mata'utia is not staying on beyond this year.
For Hull, the deal for O'Neill plugs the gap left behind by Jed Cartwright following his loan move to St Helens.
Chief executive Richie Myler said: "We are delighted to keep Ethan here on a permanent basis after a promising loan spell over the last couple of months.
"Ethan has been a really positive addition to the group. His work rate is incredibly high and he has become a strong voice in our pack in only a short time here.
"I'm looking forward to seeing him continue to develop over the coming years in our environment."

Cartwright, meanwhile, has linked up with Saints on an initial one-month loan with a view to a permanent move.
The back-rower, whose contract expires at the end of the campaign, has played just 23 games in an injury-hit two-year spell with Hull.
