Former Leeds Rhinos Grand Final winner Shaun Lunt has announced his retirement.

Lunt, a hooker, had two spells on loan at Rhinos, in 2012 - when he made 23 appearances and featured in their shock Grand Final win over Warrington Wolves - and two years ago, playing six times.

He also made four appearances for Castleford Tigers in 2005 and was at Batley Bulldogs last season.

He was due to play for Barrow Raiders this year, but the 33-year-old has now hung up his boots.

His other clubs included Workington Town, Huddersfield Giants and Hull KR, he played once for England in 2010 and was capped twice by England Knights two years later.

Announcing the news on social media, Lunt said: "Well Rugby League it’s been emotional...

"Our time has came [sic] to an end, unfortunately. I’ve been very fortunate through hard work and dedication to have a career I could’ve only of dreamt of as a kid!!

"Met some sensational people along way also... On to the next chapter now."

Rhinos' Twitter feed described Lunt as a "champion in every sense of the word".
