Blackmore, 28, has been referred to an RFL operational rules tribunal over a remark allegedly made on Facebook last month.

An RFL spokesman told this newspaper: “The tribunal’s remit is to consider the alleged posting of inappropriate material, including unacceptable language, in the form of discriminatory and disrespectful language based on race, national or ethnic origin.”

The spokesman added: “The date of the tribunal has yet to be arranged.

“He has the right to a personal hearing and to call witnesses.”

League Express newspaper has reported the post concerned a Sheffield Eagles squad picture and was aimed at winger Rob Worrincy.

Rovers say they are unable to comment on what is a private matter between the RFL and Blackmore, who is cooperating fully with the governing body.

Blackmore began his career at Castleford Tigers and has also played for clubs including Huddersfield Giants, Doncaster and Batley Bulldogs.

He rejoined Rovers for a second spell last year, after four seasons with Sheffield.

Blackmore scored two tries in Rovers’ 36-6 Betfred Championship win at Swinton Lions last Sunday.
