Joe Summers, who was Tigers’ academy player and players’ player of the year in 2019, will join Jacob Doyle at Rovers next season after signing a one-year deal.

The 20-year-old back-rower said: “I’m really excited to have signed for Featherstone.

“I’m hoping to prove myself in the first team and secure my spot week in, week out.

“My ambition is to play in the Super League and after speaking to Featherstone I realised I can achieve my goals with this club and go far.

“I’m really looking forward to getting here for pre-season and meeting the lads and supporters.

“Until then I am focusing on helping Castleford with their goals this year in the Super League.”

Rovers’ football manager Steve Gill added: “Joe is a player who will add some real quality to the depth of our squad as a middle or back-row.

“He’s certainly not afraid to put a shift in, he’s a very powerful runner of the football and has a great late step which makes him hard to handle.

“He has a great pedigree, winning the 2019 player and players’ player of the year, which earned him the opportunity to go full-time with the first team at Castleford.

“He is a quality young player who will certainly develop further in our environment.”
