Featherstone Rovers signing Nu Brown can be a real star - with right attitude says Jesse Sene-Lefao

CASTLEFORD Tigers’ Jesse Sene-Lefao feels neighbours Featherstone Rovers have a genuine star in former Cronulla Sharks team-mate Nu Brown – if he finds the “right mindset.”

The Championship club pulled off a real coup by signing the Samoa international last week.

Half-back/hooker Brown, 25, has plenty of NRL experience, having also played with Canterbury Bulldogs, but found himself without a deal for 2020.

Sene-Lefao, who made his own move from Sydney to the UK in 2016, said: “I’ve known Nu Brown since he was in the Under-20s coming through at the Sharks.

“He was a talent from the first start but obviously everyone goes in their ups and downs in rugby league; the rollercoaster is crazy.

“I view Nu Brown’s signing for Fev, though, as an awesome opportunity for himself.

“I honestly think that Featherstone will save his career and whatever happens after that, the sky’s the limit.

“I know Super League clubs will be knocking on the door.

“If he comes over with the right mindset, and is driven to be better and take Fev to where they want to be, I can’t see Fev not being successful.”

Brown, who will arrive if the Championship season resumes, has real versatility value and fellow Samoa international Sene-Lefao, 30, added: “In the Under 20s, he played hooker.

“He was very sharp and with the rules changes – if they do come in in Super League – I feel he’d be an awesome hooker.

“But, I reckon five-eighth (stand-off) for Featherstone. I’ve seen him clean up games there and he’s played that position for Samoa doing a great job there.

“With Dane Chisholm steering the ship, he could just run on the opposite edge.”

Meanwhile, Sene-Lefao hopes to extend his own stay in West Yorkshire with Castleford.

“I’ve got this year and next with Cas but I’d like to stay longer, ”said the second-row.

“I back my ability to go to another level. I feel my mind and will to be a better rugby player has been massive over this (Covid) break.

“I’m connecting with my team through Zoom chats to understand our gameplan, or shapes, or defensive shots better.

“It’s all been a plus.”
