With three games to play in the regular season, Rovers are sixth in the Kingstone Press Championship, three points behind fourth-placed Batley.

The top-four will go into a seven-game promotion/relegation scrap against First Utility Super League’s bottom four, including last year’s treble winners Leeds Rhinos. A 44-22 home win over Workington Town two days ago kept alive Rovers’ hopes and Sharp insisted: “The good thing about the fixtures is we all seem to be playing one another in the last three games.

“We have got Batley on Sunday, then [third-placed] Halifax and Bradford [who are fifth]. I think it is going to be really tight and we will have to win all three.

“That would put us on 30 points, which I think will be enough. It is going to be a tough task, but one we are ready for.”

Of Sunday’s performance, Sharp said: “We have been inconsistent, we have had a couple of up and down performances, but I thought we got back on the horse.

“We looked a lot better attacking-wise and we really looked well in the halves, which is something we’ve spent extra time working on.”

Meanwhile, Rovers chairman Mark Campbell has confirmed the club has “paid in full” to stave off a winding up petition from HM Revenue and Customs.
