It is the 24-year-old's third spell at Rovers.

He joined them from Castleford Tigers in 2018 and then returned on loan the following year, following a move to Huddersfield Giants.

Castleford-born Holmes played 18 times for Giants, including 12 appearances this year, but left the Betfred Super League club last week.

“It was a pretty easy decision," Holmes said of his return to Millennium Stadium, Post Office Road.

"I’ve been here before and I know what the club is about, but there were some other offers.

"It was right that I took my time to make my decision, but I spoke to [coach] James Webster, I like the recruitment Featherstone have done and I agree with what he is doing at Rovers and what he is planning on doing at this club next season.”

Webster added: “Tom is a quality player who is local and familiar with Featherstone.

"I had the chance to watch him play many times this year at Huddersfield.

“His versatility to play at the nine, seven and one positions gives us fantastic options in what are exceptionally difficult positions to recruit.

"Having spoken to Tom at length I am really looking forward to him meeting up with the squad.”

Rovers football manager Steve Gill said: “Tom is a player I’ve known very well since his days at Castleford and he was a player James Webster wanted in the squad.

“I’m happy Tom has agreed to join us as my conversations with him led me to believe Featherstone was the club he wanted to play for.”
