Featherstone Rovers: Coach Sharp eyes even more improvement

Rovers recorded a fourth straight win with a 30-10 result at Swinton Lions in the Kingstone Press Championship.

And Sharp reckons his men are clicking into gear at the quarter-way point of the regular season.

“It was a good result for us,” Sharp reflected.

“We played some really good stuff. We over-played at times, but it was a really good attacking display and we defended brilliantly.”

Rovers led 12-0 at the interval and were 30-0 ahead going into the final 10 minutes before the home team ran in two consolation tries.

“This team we have just beaten have averaged 20 points per game,” Sharp said.

“We have kept them to zero for 70 minutes before they’ve sneaked two late tries.

“They were down to one-on-one misses and you can’t legislate for that.

“We scored six tries and had three disallowed, so I was happy with the way we attacked.”

Rovers have a doubt over Michael Channing for Saturday’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fourth round tie at his former club London Broncos.

“He had to withdraw before kick-off with a tight hamstring,” Sharp said.

“Will Milner came on to the bench and we had to reshuffle, but the players handled it well.”
