However, the 28-year-old has now earned a chance with the ambitious Championship club who already have ex-Hull KR, Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity star Craig Hall as their main No1.

“Louis spoke to me sometime ago about wanting to test himself in a good, professional environment,” said Featherstone coach James Webster.

“I liked his drive and determination regarding wanting a shot to prove himself.

“He has good experience in a variety of positions and has done really well in his time training with us so far.”

Rovers football manager Steve Gill added: “I remember Louis being a real good player within the Hull KR youth set-up.

“Since then he has played in Australia and some teams in the Championship and League 1.

“He has a lot of experience to offer in the outside backs and has shown a real hunger to be part of the culture we are continuing to develop at the club.”
