Ex-Leeds Rhinos captain linked with Wigan Warriors following Toronto Wolfpack exit

Former Leeds Rhinos prop Brad Singleton could be set for a move to Wigan Warriors in 2021.

Singleton, 27, was a member of Rhinos' treble-winning squad in 2015 and a Betfred Super League champion again two years later.

He left last autumn to join Toronto Wolfpack on a three-year contract, but that is now in doubt after the Canadian side announced their withdrawal from the 2020 competition.

Wigantoday.net says Warriors are interested in Singleton as a replacement for Ben Flower who - ironically - was set to join Toronto for next season before their shock Super League exit.

Wolfpack's Super League participation agreement for 2020 was terminated on Monday and they will have to enter a new arrangement before being able to join the competition next year.

Singleton's teammates Sonny Bill Williams - to Sydney Roosters - and Ricky Leutele (Melbourne Storm) have returned to Australia's NRL for the rest of this season and it is unclear if Toronto will be readmitted to Super League, or any level of RFL competition, next year.

Singleton played 178 times for Leeds from 2011 to last year and had a stint as skipper in 2018.

Another ex-Rhinos captain, Kallum Watkins, is also understood to be looking for a new club after signing for Toronto, from Gold Coast Titans, during the coronavirus lockdown.
