Ex-Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers forward Weller Hauraki hangs up boots after release by Hull KR

Former Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers player Weller Hauraki has announced his retirement.

Hauraki, 35, joined Rhinos from Welsh club Crusaders ahead of the 2011 season and scored six tries in 39 appearances before touching down nine times in 56 games for Tigers in 2013-2014.

He played for Leeds at Wembley when they lost to Wigan Warriors in the 2011 Challenge Cup final and was a runner-up again two years later for Castleford against his previous club.

After Tigers, he had four seasons at Salford Red Devils and a stint with Widnes Vikings and then spent two years as a Hull KR player, but was released when his contract expired at the end of last term.

The New Zealander played in the NRL for Parramatta Eels before moving to Super League.
