Dewsbury Rams: Morrison wants Rams to put a strong marker down at Swinton

Rams are aiming to improve on last year, when they finished sixth in the Kingstone Press Championship.

They begin against promoted Swinton Lions at Salford’s AJ Bell Stadium tomorrow (3pm) and then face Workington, Oldham and Whitehaven.

“The first four games are against teams that will want to be on a par with us,” Morrison said.

“We know we have got to win these games or our season could be over before it has started.”

Swinton are an unknown quantity for Rams. Morrison added: “They have had friendlies called off, so we haven’t been able to get footage of them.

“But they have four or five of my old players, who will show a bit of feeling.

“It will be a tough game, but it is a hurdle we have got to get over.”

Rams are in confident mood after a big win against London Broncos in their final trial match.

“We have been building towards this weekend,” Morrison said.

“We said before last week’s game we wanted to put a marker down and get some momentum.

“We definitely did and hopefully we can get a bit of consistency and keep doing that.”
