Dewsbury Rams: Morrison happy despite narrow defeat to Rovers

DEWSBURY RAMS coach Glenn Morrison was happier with his side's performance in the 21-20 defeat at Featherstone Rovers two days ago than he has been after some of their wins this year.

Rams were pipped by Danny Craven’s drop goal two minutes from time and Morrison said: “It was a good game.

“It had a finals footy feel about it before, during and after.

“Despite being on the wrong end of the scoreline I thought we were the better side and we led for all bar the last two minutes.

“A couple of decisions and a couple of bounces of the ball didn’t help us, but we played quite well and we got up a lot better than we have been doing.”

Rams are into a run of tough games which continues when they visit London Broncos, who are second in the Kingstone Press Championship, on Saturday afternoon. “We have proved we can match it with the top teams and we probably should have come away with at least a point,” Morrison added.

“We need to keep that standard - or more - to get some points from the next few games.”

Ryan Hepworth (knee) and Tony Tonks (back) both picked up injuries and Morrison admitted: “We did struggle a bit in the middle and that was where they got on top of us.”
