Dewsbury Rams: Morrison hails Rams' A-game

Paul Sykes’ late drop goal sealed a memorable 31-30 victory and sent Rams through to tonight’s fifth-round draw.

It was a sweet success for Rams coach Glenn Morrison, who is a former Bradford player, and he said: “We said before the game we have gone away to Featherstone and London and most of their points were from our mistakes.

“We have been putting the effort in, but game management has been letting us down. We needed a big step up to beat Bradford and that’s what we did.

“They ground out a really exciting win, one that will go down in the history books for the club.

“We’ve got the confidence that if we play our best we can compete with any team.

“We’ve said that all along, we’ve just not quite been there.”

Injuries were the only disappointment from last weekend’s tie.

Rams were again without Andy Kain, due to an ankle problem. Prop Toby Adamson suffered a suspected torn biceps in the opening moments, and Jack Teanby, another forward, was knocked out early in the second half.

Both are set to miss Friday’s derby at home to Batley Bulldogs in the Kingstone Press Championship, along with Scott Hale (shoulder).
