Castleford Tigers: We must get back to winning ways '“ Millington

CASTLEFORD TIGERS can't afford to slip up at home to First Utility Super League's bottom club Huddersfield Giants tomorrow, forward Grant Millington admits.

Tigers picked up one win from two games over Easter, beating Leeds Rhinos, but losing at Catalans Dragons. They are clinging on to a place in the top-eight and Millington said they need to get back to winning ways this weekend.

“It’s a big one for the table,” Millington said of tomorrow’s match.

“The way games have gone recently you can’t really give away too many points.

“You don’t really want to lose contact with that top four. It’s a massive game for us. We really have to win all our home games and it’s a big challenge for us.

“They have a big side and have plenty of speed and strength on the edges as well as the middle.

“It’s a good challenge, but at home I’d like to think we’d back ourselves against anyone.”

Giants finished third last year, two places above Tigers and Millington said he is surprised they are struggling so badly.

“They had a bit of trouble in the off-season and lost a key player there,” he said of Brett Ferres’ move to Leeds Rhinos. “Then Craig Huby was injured and little things like that can upset a side and the balance of teams.

“I am a bit surprised, but they are starting to get a lot of their players back now. They are still missing Jamie Ellis who’s a loss, but they are quite strong and a side you can’t discount on the day as if you do they will roll you.”

Joel Monaghan is the latest player to join Tigers’ injury list, with a back problem.
