Castleford Tigers take 'belief' boost from Leeds Rhinos win: Ryan Carr's side target Wakefield Trinity upset
Castleford Tigers will take newly-found confidence into tomorrow’s (Friday) game at Wakefield Trinity.
The derby comes just five days after coach Ryan Carr’s side hit back from 16-0, 20-4 and 30-16 down to beat Betfred Super League leaders Leeds Rhinos 36-34 at OneBore Stadium. “It gives the boys some belief,” coach Ryan Carr said of that shock result.
“We’ve probably been a bit down on that at certain times throughout the year, but I was really proud we found a way to win that game after throwing so much into it. We had players playing out of position, but they just got on with it and did what they could for the team. It was a really good win for the boys to gain some belief and know they can do it.”

It will be another huge upset if Tigers can win at third-placed Wakefield, especially after heavy defeats - 34-0 at Easter and 48-6 three weeks ago - in this season’s previous two meetings. Carr recognises the scale of the task facing his men, but reckons if they perform to their potential they can come away with the points.
“They’ve played really well both times we’ve played them,” he recalled of Trinity, who are on a five-match winning run. “Fair play to them, they are a good footy team with great players who are well drilled.
“They are one of the form teams. You can see that by the way they are climbing the ladder. Our focus is on trying to be the best version of us, which hasn’t happened in the previous two fixtures.”
