Luckless Sosaia Feki’s horrendous misfortune with injuries has continued with Castleford Tigers revealing the New Zealander has ruptured an Achilles tendon in pre-season training.

The Tonga winger, 29, joined from Cronulla Sharks on a three-year deal ahead of last season.

However, he made just one appearance last term - lasting just 23 minutes in the Challenge Cup game against Hull FC in September - following a succession of injuries.

It was reported that Feki was looking in excellent condition ahead of the new campaign with Castleford due to start against Warrington Wolves on March 28.

But the West Yorkshire club released a statement saying he had ruptured an Achilles tendon in training.

They have not said how long the player will be missing for but often such injuries can take up to nine months to recover from.
