Warrington have a 100 per cent record so far this season and will be aiming to inflict Tigers’ third successive defeat.

Luke Dorn suffered a hamstring injury in last Sunday’s home loss to Salford Red Devils and Oliver Holmes, Ben Roberts and Junior Moors remain on the casualty list, alongside captain Michael Shenton.

Lee Jewitt also drops out from last week’s team and Powell said: “We have got some injury problems and that makes things difficult.

Warrington are going well, they have got minimal injuries and they’ve won five from five.

“They will be feeling confident and they are at home so it will be a tough one.

“The last couple of weeks we’ve been reasonably close, but we’ve got rattled a bit with injuries and we haven’t dealt with them very well.

“We are losing key players and when that happens it is pretty difficult.

“When you have most of your players available you have more fluency about you.

“We’ve not quite had that fluency. We have come up against a couple of teams who have played really well and put us under pressure.

“We haven’t handled that well and we’ve ended up coming up a bit short.

“It is a tight competition and if you aren’t on top of your game you get beaten.”

Powell is confident Tigers, who could welcome back Grant Millington and long-term casualty Frankie Mariano, are not far off getting back to the form which saw them beat Wakefield and Hull earlier in the campaign.

“We have got a job to do to get ourselves back on track,” he said

“But we have got a good team, we just need to be a bit better in certain areas.”
