Castleford Tigers: Axed winger Carney takes full responsibility for enforced loan move to Salford Red Devils

Carney will spend 2016 on loan at Super League rivals Salford Red Devils, despite having four years left on his Tigers contract.

“What’s happened has happened,” said Carney, who was suspended towards the end of last season following allegations about his behaviour off the field.

“It’s my fault entirely and I don’t hate anyone for that.

“I don’t carry any hatred towards anyone.

“I did the wrong thing and I hold my hands up.”

Salford, who kick off their campaign at Hull FC on February 5, will visit Castleford on Sunday, March 13. Cas are at Hull KR two days later on February 7.

And Carney admitted: “I know the reception I’m going to get at Cas isn’t going to be a good one, but that’s my own undoing. That’s no one’s fault. I’ve just got to do my job and get on with it.”

The Australian winger could, in theory, return to the Jungle next season.

“That’s something I’ll have to address down the line,” he added.

“My main focus is to get this six or seven months out of the road, get down to what I do best.

“That other stuff will take care of itself, it goes with how I perform out on the field.”
