Former Leeds Rhinos rake Paul McShane, who is ever-present for Wakefield this year, has moved to Castleford on a contract lasting until the end of 2017.
Scott Moore, the experienced ex-St Helens, Huddersfield, Widnes, North Queensland and England player, who joined Tigers last autumn from London Broncos, has moved the other way.
McShane, 25, made his Super League debut for Leeds Rhinos in 2009 after rising through their academy ranks.
He played 63 times for the Rhinos and also had spells on loan at Hull and Widnes before moving to Wakefield in 2013, after Paul Aiton joined Leeds.
“I’m really excited to join the Tigers and have the chance to help the club push towards a play-off spot in the Super League Super-8’s,” said McShane, who could be in contention to make his debut in Sunday’s home game against Warrington Wolves.
“I can’t wait to get started and meet everyone at the club. The atmosphere at the Jungle is immense and I can’t wait to pull on the Cas jersey and get on that pitch.”
Coach Daryl Powell revealed McShane had been set to link up with Castleford next year.
“I’m delighted to welcome Paul to the Tigers at a crucial time during the season,” he said. “Having signed him for the next two years, it was ideal when we got the chance to sign him early.”
Of Moore, 27, Powell added: “Scott wanted the chance to play every week and Wakefield will give him that opportunity.
“We wish him all the best for the remainder of the season.”
Moore - who has signed until the end of the season - is Wakefield’s ninth recruit since Brian Smith was named coach at the end of May, with McShane being their sixth departure.
Wildcats chairman Michael Carter said: “With Paul signing for Castleford next year there was an opportunity to bring Scott here, which suited all parties and with the cooperation of the Castleford Tigers we managed to get the deal done quickly.
“I wish Paul all the best for the future and look forward to seeing Scott in the red, white and blue.”
