Bulldog Scott's facing a long lay-off

Scott suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in Bulldogs’ shock Kingstone Press Championship win over Leigh Centurions five days ago.

Also set to miss Sunday’s derby at Featherstone Rovers are Brad Day (concussion) and James Davey (grade one hamstring strain), who were substitutes in the season opener.

Coach John Kear said: “It shows how well we did last week. We ended up with 14 fit players and I had used all my interchanges with 13 minutes left.”

Featherstone coach Jon Sharp said he is likely to select from the same 19 players named before his team’s loss at Bradford Bulls.

“We have to check on Jamie Cording, but we’re hoping he will be fine,” Sharp said.

“We thought we had cracked ribs, but X-rays gave him the all-clear.”

Meanwhile, Glenn Morrison, whose Dewsbury Rams side are at home to Workington Town on Sunday, is confident loose-forward Aaron Brown has not suffered a recurrence of long term knee problems.

He was hurt in last weekend’s win at Swinton, but Morrison said: “He said it was just a bone-on-bone knock.

“It just happened to be on his bad knee.

“We’re pretty sure there’s no ligament damage, which is a relief.”
