The former Leeds Rhinos winger has not played this year due to illness, but coach Chris Chester revealed: “He should be back next week.”

Trinity face Catalans Dragons tomorrow in a Coral Challenge Cup sixth-round tie at Huddersfield’s John Smith’s Stadium.

Their next Betfred Super League fixture is seven days later against hosts Warrington Wolves.

Star winger Tom Johnstone remains on the casualty list after damaging an elbow in the one-point loss to Wigan Warriors 12 days ago.

But Chester confirmed: “He does not require surgery so he is probably going to be back in the next three to four weeks.”

Lee Kershaw, who replaced Johnstone in last week’s 58-0 league drubbing by Catalans, is facing up to eight weeks on the sidelines with a severe hamstring injury.

Trinity are still without Joe Arundel after he suffered season-ending knee damage in February.

With so many injuries in the outside-backs, Trinity have brought in Huddersfield Giants’ 20-year-old winger or centre Innes Senior on a month’s loan.

Giants are out of the competition following a round five loss to Toronto Wolfpack, when Innes did not feature, so he is eligible for tomorrow’s game and Chester said: “I spoke to [Giants boss] Simon Woolford the other day and the kid wants to play.

“He wants to get out and get some game time. With us missing Tom Johnstone and Ben Jones-Bishop and Lee Kershaw, that’s three wingers we are down - plus Joe Arundel.

“We obviously needed to bring some reinforcements in.

“We are very very skinny in the outside-backs at this moment in time and we needed someone to bridge that gap.”

Senior, 20, has scored eight tries in 25 Super League games, but not featured for Giants this season.

Chester added: “I am looking forward to seeing him play and to getting him some game time.

“He is still only a young kid, he is enthusiastic and he wants to play week-in and week-out.

“We can give him that opportunity, certainly for the first month.”
