Parkside began their Premier Division campaign with a 14-6 victory at last year’s league leaders Wath Brow Hornets. Jack McShane bagged a brace of tries, Andy Hullock landed a conversion and Jamie Fields booted a conversion and penalty before being sin-binned late on.

Milford Marlins, Oulton Raiders and Stanningley all lost in Division One. Milford almost snatched a draw at Hull Dockers when Josh Nathaniel scored a last-gasp try, but Martin Loveridge’s conversion attempt was off-target and they lost 28-26. Loveridge scored a try and three goals and Dwain McRae, Joe Ramsden and Scott Jensen also crossed. Milford had John Elkington sent off on 35 minutes.

Stanningley were beaten 32-8 at Thornhill Trojans, who were relegated from the Premier Division last year. Niall Murphy and Carl McGuigan were the Leeds side’s try scorers. Matthew Tebb, Rye Ward, Will Gledhill, Jordan Ward, Liam Morley, Casey Johnson – who landed two goals – and Sam Ratcliffe crossed for the hosts.

Promoted Hunslet Warriors’ first game back in Division Two ended in a 26-18 home loss to Clock Face. Warriors trailed 26-6 two minutes from time, but tries from Josh McLelland and Tyler Gargan – both converted by Jordan Gale – made the scoreline more respectable. Gale also improved Dylan Naughton’s first-half effort. Hunslet’s Daryl Gaunt was sin-binned on the hour for striking.

East Leeds, relegated last year, are two games into their Division Three campaign and remain unbeaten after a 20-20 draw at Eastmoor Dragons. Easts led by six points with five minutes left, through a try and two goals by Luke Littlewood, touchdowns from Ben Walkin and Jake Normington and two Ross Meston goals.
