Leeds driver Ollie Wilkinson will feature at the home of British motor racing this Sunday in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge.
The future in motor racing already looks extremely bright for the Leeds United fan, who has secured two pole positions, three fastest laps and a brace of podium finishes so far this season.
Wilkinson, aged just 21, only began racing a year ago which makes his excellent form this season even more impressive.
He said: “I can’t wait to get back into race mode at Silverstone.
“I didn’t expect to be sitting in the top four of the standings so early on and I head to Silverstone with much more confidence.”
The format of the event is a seven-race series involving 1.8 litre 160bhp Ginetta G40 cars, at some of the UK’s most famous circuits concluding at Donington Park.
Wilkinson added: “It was an intense start to my first year of racing with three events in four weeks but the learning experience has been invaluable.”
After a month’s break the series continues this Saturday with qualifying starting at 11.25am and Wilkinson is looking to go one step further this time. He said: “I’d love to take a step up the podium and even aim for a win.”
