Your Leeds United views: Long-term strategy must apply in January window

The only way a signing is worthwhile right now is if that player is going to join in the summer full-time.
We have next to no chance of making the play-offs and about the same chance of going down.

Hide AdWhy would we pay a Premier League player, lacking match fitness more than £10k a week to play in a team that is not going anywhere this season.
I admit, I think Joey O’Brien (West Ham) sounds intriguing, affordable and a good player for the defence.
But you must be joking if, realistically thinking, we could afford James Chester (West Bromwich Albion).
If he leaves West Brom, he goes to a Premier League team or a Premier League team-elect – Middlesbrough etc.

Hide AdI like the idea of Ciaran Clark (Aston Villa). Still, I don’t think we need a forward this season. We have Chris Wood, Souleymane Doukara, Mirco Antenucci and Lee Erwin.
Playing with one striker, we are not the kind of club that can go out and afford to get another and leave four on the bench or at home.
If (head coach) Steve Evans doesn’t think they’re up to it, why not give Lewis Walters or another academy player a shot.
Now is the time to give him a run.
Signing Winnall just too risky

Is Sam Winnall better than Erwin or Doukara?
I am sorry but paying over £1m is too risky. Pay £6m for a player in the Premier League who is on the bench makes sense, but another ‘hope he is good enough punt’, no, I’d rather play our young players instead. Get our four young players on five-year contracts with options to double or treble their salaries with promotion.
It’s good to talk, well sometimes

Hide AdIt seems to me that Massimo Cellino thinks he is the best ‘talker’ out there. He may be able to talk, but one thing is for sure – he just doesn’t listen.
Whites now on a stable footing

The only clubs that invested in the January transfer window were either desperate to avoid relegation or trying for promotion.
Many fans have demanded stability. Well, that’s what we have. It’s time now for Steve Evans and the players to show what they can do. Jordan Botaka and Casper Sloth are international players who have not been given a chance.
