Yorkshire Amateur - Merciless leaders Wortley refusing to hold back


Steeton, it is fair to say, have struggled to get going this season and remain rooted firmly to the foot of the table after going down 9-0 at Wortley, their eighth straight defeat.
John Mallinson hit a hat-trick, Curtis Lewis and Ryan Sharrocks claimed a brace apiece, and Matthew Dalton and McCauley Elliott were also on target.

Hide AdSecond-placed Farsley Celtic Juniors kept pace with Wortley - the top two are level on points - following their 5-1 success at Drighlington.


Charlie Austerfield scored the consolation goal for the gallant hosts.
The battle between fourth and third - Leeds City and Athletico - went the way of the higher-placed outfit.
Hassan Ali, Izatullah Ghaznewal and substitute Nikolay Stoilov scored the goals for Athletico, who also led 2-1 at half-time. Connor Reid and sub’ Andrew Crossland netted for City.

Hide AdMid-tablers Lower Hopton and Littletown tussled until the visitors eventually prevailed 4-2 thanks to goals from Matthew Bolton, Scott Lightowler, Adam Williams and Thomas Ramsden.


James Heeley and Curtis Roberts netted to no avail for Lower Hopton.
Route One Rovers found their path to goals largely unencumbered by visitors Alwoodley.
Their encounter finished 5-0 to the hosts with Zak Khan sinking a treble, and Danyal Yasin and sub’ Jonathan Mwembie claiming one each.

Hide AdThird-bottom Toller, meanwhile, pulled off perhaps the result of the round with a 3-2 success at mid-table Stanley United.
Matty Green and regular scorer Josh Whiteley netted for United but it wasn’t enough to deny Toller a notable scalp.
In the Premier, the third-versus-second encounter between Mount St Mary’s and Golcar United ended in a 1-1 stalemate after the hosts had taken a first-half lead.
Josimar Bradshaw netted United’s equaliser.
Bottom side, Nostell MW, look like they’re stabilising the ship after gaining only their third point of the season thanks to a 1-1 draw with visiting mid-tablers Morley Town.

The battle between eighth and ninth on the ladder would have been expected to be mucher closer than Saturday’s Shire Academics-Wibsey fixture.
Academics handed out a lesson in finishing to claim a 5-1 victory, achieved with goals supplied by Lewis Barnes, Cal Chalkley (2), Alex Cookson and George Hardy.
Josh Ludford and Chris Mortimer were on target for Wibsey who had also trailed, 2-1, at the break.

Hide AdBradly Longhorn scored a consolation goal for second-bottom hosts Stanningley Old Boys who were swept aside by table toppers Middleton, 6-1. Richard Collier bagged a hat-trick, while Daniel Chadwick, George Kladakis and James Law also found the back of the net.
In the Championship, leaders Horsforth SM overran home side, Ealandians, 5-1, second-placed Beeston Juniors edged visitors Colton Athletic 4-3, and hosts Hanging Heaton lost out 5-3 to Crofton Sports.
Elsewhere, Leeds Medics & Dentists Reserves were pushed all the way by visitors Woodkirk Valley but held out, 3-2, and, in another close contest, PFC edged visitors Gomersal & Cleckheaton, 4-3.
