Yorkshire Amateur League: Smart and Williams keep 13-goal Saints' hopes alive

Horsforth are continuing to play catch-up with Saturday’s fixture only their sixth league game of the campaign in which Dan Smart and Jake Williams helped themselves to hat-tricks.

Middleton’s already difficult task was made even harder when they were reduced to ten men following a first-half sending off.

The hosts were 6-0 up at the interval and cruised to victory on the all-weather pitch at Weetwood as Declan Broadley, Jodie Lazenby, Jordan Broadley, Greg Rowell, Karl Barker, James Price and Joe McGurk all netted one each.

Horsforth moved above Fairbank United who dropped to sixth after a 2-2 draw on the all-weather surface at Dixons Academy against an FC Headingley side who moved eighth.

Fairbank were 2-0 down after 25 minutes courtesy of Andy Hume and Sam Walker, but Imam Asim pulled Fairbank back into the game before the break. Fairbank were then level early in the second half after captain Bahlal Saleem slotted home a penalty.

In the Premier, Alwoodley enjoyed a 4-2 victory at home to Trinity & All Saints Old Boys that left the visitors second-bottom as the hosts jumped one place above them.

Trinity took a tenth-minute lead through an Ian Duggleby header but Alwoodley levelled through Alex Baddham’s 35-yarder and then led through a Dan Whincup header following brilliant work by Dino Mulavdic. Graham Shaw’s 25-yard free-kick made it 3-1 at the break with Ricardo Brown making it 4-1 before Andy Kenyon pulled a goal back.

Two games survived in the Championship with leaders Beeston Juniors moving four points clear through a 5-1 defeat of third-bottom visitors Shire Academics on the 3G pitch at Middleton Hub.

George Lazaro gave Beeston an early lead but after Jack Self levelled, the leaders had to wait until the 83rd minute before taking the lead with Shire ‘keeper James Webber in terrific form. Two late goals from Ryan Dawson plus one each from Jamie Mitchell and Liam Tyrer brought up the home nap hand.

Collingham Juniors Old Boys shared a 1-1 draw with fellow mid-table visitors Beeston St Anthony’s. Beeston led through Graham Stockdale but Richard Metcalfe levelled in the 40th minute. League Referees Appointments’ Secretary Richard Asher took charge of the match after the withdrawal of the appointed referee through illness.
