Yorkshire Amateur League - Pacesetters Wortley and Farsley Celtic notch identical win margins

The title rivals are locked on 22 points each - three ahead of third-placed Athletico - with Celtic second on goals difference but with a game in hand.

Mid-table Route One Rovers provided the terrier-like opposition for Farsley while Wortley were troubled by Ryburn United. Ryan Sharrocks bagged a goals brace for Wortley in their encounter with additional goals going to Joe Cryer and James Kemp.

Athletico, meanwhile, made light work of hosts Steeton who have yet to win this season after nine outings. It finished 3-0 after the visitors had led by two at the break, courtesy of two Paul Hague goals. Izatullah Ghaznewal put the game beyond Steeton’s reach with a third five minutes into the second half.

Laurie Power hit a first-half hat-trick as Horsforth St Margaret’s out-gunned visiting Stanley United, 5-1. Callum Walker was also on the scoresheet for Saints while Ras Diamond netted United’s consolation goal in a tighter second half (the hosts had led 4-0 at the break).

Fifth-placed Leeds Medics & Dentists brushed aside Lower Hopton, 4-2.

Littletown and Leeds City are two points off the top five. City’s game at Toller was postponed while Littletown made light work of visitors Alwoodley.

The 3-0 win came courtesy of goals from Nathan McDaid, Adam Williams and substitute James Heeley.

Second-bottom Drighlington were no match for visiting mid-table Calverley United who triumphed 4-1, Ross McHale netting for the hosts.

If all goes to plan this coming weekend, Calverley will entertain second-placed Farsley with confidence while Horsforth St Margaret’s will be out to emulate United’s success over Drig’.

Elsewhere, Leeds City return to action against Steeton, Littletown entertain Leeds Medics and Route One Rovers take on Lower Hopton.

Athletico are scheduled to make the trip to Ryburn United with Stanley United playing host to Alwoodley and Wortley providing the opposition for travellers, Toller, whose return was also held back last week.

St Bedes hit hosts Nostell MW to keep the pressure on the top two who also picked up three points on their return to action.

Tawheed Ahmed and Jermaine Moyce muscled up with a brace apiece for Saints with Mohammed Abeed and Sam Marshall bringing up the team’s half-dozen. Luca Binsley netted for Nostell, who remain rooted to the foot of the Premier ladder.

Leaders Middleton saw off third-bottom White Rose, 4-2, courtesy of a Jordan Duncan hat-trick and a fourth coming from Jordan Dunca.

Goals from Matty James (2) and Daniel Powell were enough to give second-placed Mount St Mary’s a 3-2 win over Stanningley OD. James Allen and Tom Stewart netted for the Old Boys.

The mid-table encounter between Morley Town and Wibsey went the way of the visitors 3-1 after the sides had been deadlocked with a goal apiece ahead of the turnaround.

Wibsey’s Danny O’Donnell landed a hat-trick while Gregory Robinson found the back of the net for the hosts.

Visitors, Collegians, trail seventh-placed Ealandians by just a point now - and still have two games in hand to boot - after Saturday’s 3-2 away victory, achieved courtesy of goals from James Coverdale, Tom Dunne and Ryan Fuller.
